Welcome to the home of 'Lucas Was Here'.
This is Lucas Hannigan, and this site is part of his short but inspirational life!
On December 8th 2008 Lucas died of a disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), his untimely departure has left a break in our hearts that it is impossible to begin to try and mend, but with this journey we hope that we can help his memory to live on in our hearts and minds for many more years and so that my sister Jennifer and Steve my brother-in-law can somehow begin to imagine carrying on with only beautiful memories of the small period of time that we had him around.

Today is mine and Dan's last day in Vietnam. Dan is currently wrapping up the steads in Mickey Buble wrap and Anthony is sorting out his 'admin'.I have packed up my Ortlieb's (the unbelievably annoying bags we have karted around) for the last time on this trip and I'm feeling very strange. Vietnam
LUCAS WAS HERE starts in the bustling city of Hanoi, North of Vietnam. Considered as the cultural capital of Vietnam it boasts an abundance of pagodas and temples and is also the home to several of the countries most celebrated museums.
Winding down through the hills and along the coastal path, taking in some of Vietnam's breathtaking views we will arrive at our destination Ho Chi Minh City.
The former Saigon is adorned with wide elegant boulevards and historic buildings, a reminder of its colonial past, but never distracting too much from its metropolitan present.
Take a look at the ROUTE page to see where we are playing to stop during the 1000 miles!
